As we look at projections for the peak period of COVID-19 in our region and across the nation, we understand as a mission that taking kids to camp in early summer is unrealistic and potentially unsafe. So, the mission camping team has replanned and rescheduled all trips nationwide as five day trips that have a start date, as of now, from June 15-August 11. All trips are limited to camps within 8 to 10 hours from our area. This summer will be different than we had planned and it is requiring us to be flexible.
Young Life Camp
We are presently making plans for new Young Life camp dates. Sharp Top Cove falls outside of the 8 - 10 hour distance from our area. The new dates and location should be known by April 27. We will continue to be in communication with you as we have more information.
Registration Information
If your student got their health form in by March 1, they still get a $50 credit. Those students who are currently registered, STILL have their spots until we are told otherwise by you. We ask that you hold off on making a decision about dropping until we have our new dates if at all possible, but we understand extenuating circumstances.
We STILL plan on it being the best week of kids' lives this year and hope that it will provide the hope of which we all are in dire need. Park Hill can still use the camp links we sent if you would like to make a deposit or an additional payment. Platte City online registration will be developed as new dates are known. You can and will get a refund if camp is not a possibility this summer, BUT we believe and hope it will be.
Flexibility is the key!
Young Life has been clear that all of the planning for new camp dates is dependent upon the following criteria as anchor for summer camp decision-making, based on state and local guidance:
• There are no bans on large group gatherings that would limit our ability to hold camp.
• There are no travel restrictions throughout the U.S. and Canada.
• Medical experts determine that there would be no heightened health risks for kids, volunteers, and staff.
All three of these statements must be true for summer camp to proceed.
Thank you for your patience. We are praying and believing that these YL adventures will happen this summer, and we anxiously await and keep watch alongside you. Please join us as we continue to pray for a safe and amazing summer camp experience.
